What Preparation do I need to do?
We’ve designed the course carefully to help you maximise the impact. You get a month of online preparation using our unique, world class Business Buying Blueprint coaching programme. We’ll also give you a free token to get Contribution Compass personal profile, an essential tool to understand where you will thrive the most in M&A. With this level of preparation you’ll arrive already clear about your goals with a clear grounding in the principles you’ll cover on the live weekend.
Where is the course held
We run the course at a 4* star hotel near Manchester airport and close to the West Coast mainline and the motorway network. The hotel is perfectly positioned to get to, is really well appointed with great staff and quality food. You can enjoy the spa and gym in your downtime.
Do I need experience in M&A or finance?
Not at all. Most people who join us have never bought a business before. We guide you step-by-step — from finding the right targets to negotiating and closing deals. You don’t need a financial background — just the desire to learn and take action. What’s more we give you easy to use finance tools and we have a fantastic network of finance professionals to support you as well.
What if I don’t have much spare cash to invest?
That’s exactly what this course is built for. We show you how to use strategies like vendor finance, asset-based lending, and deferred consideration to acquire businesses with little or none of your own capital. It’s not about how much money you have — it’s about how well you structure the deal. Deals like these have been done for decades in the City but rarely discussed, we show you how you too can use them too.
What experience of business do I need?
To be honest, this isn’t a course for you if you have little or no experience of owning or running a business. We see claims that you can buy a business, install a general manager to run it for you and enjoy the cash – sadly it’s complete nonsense. However, if you are ambitious and acquisitions remain your goal, we can support you through the modules we provide in The Club at a tiny monthly cost to you!
Is this even legal – buying a business with no money down?
Absolutely. It’s a strategy that professional buyers have used for decades. Think of it like buying a property with a mortgage — you’re using leverage. We teach you legal, ethical, and win-win deal structures that work for everyone involved.
Why would anyone sell their business that way?
Many owners are ready to exit — they’re tired, retiring, or just done. They don’t want to run a sales process or deal with brokers. If you offer a fair deal and a smooth handover, they’re often open to creative payment terms. You’d be amazed what’s possible when you show up professionally.
What if I buy the wrong business?
A very smart question — and one we take seriously. Guy will talk openly about the wrong businesses that he’s bought – why he made the mistakes and how you can avoid them. Uniquely, this course includes detailed guidance on to do early-stage assessment, then due diligence, understanding financials, and spotting red flags. You’ll learn how to protect yourself and avoid costly mistakes.
How long does it take to buy a business?
To a large extent that depends on you – your levels of motivation and the time you have available to commit. Some students close a deal in as little as 3–6 months. Others take longer but this is a process you can do part-time. Our goal is to see you achieve a deal within your first 9-12 months. With the right effort, you can get real traction — fast.
Will I be on my own after the weekend?
Not at all. You’ll join a private WhatsApp group with Guy and your cohort, and after the weekend phase you’ll have the option to join The Club — our ongoing support community full of acquirers, alumni, and expert partners. You’re never flying solo.
